Ivey Homes & BBC Break Ground on Tiny Homes Village
Ivey Homes is proud to announce we will be partnering with other local builders to help build tiny homes for Bridge Builder Communities, a local nonprofit with a mission to provide housing, education, and vital resources to 18- to 25-year-olds who are aging out of the foster care system.
On a beautiful Wednesday morning just last week, we gathered to celebrate as Bridge Builder Communities broke ground on a tiny homes community designed to support young adults aging out of the foster system at 1140 Merry St in downtown Augusta. This is the site where the future community will sit, located between the Laney-Walker and Harrisburg neighborhoods. Known as "the village" within the Bridge Builder Communities vision, this site will provide safe, stable, and affordable housing for young adults aging out of the foster care system as they transition into adulthood.
Ivey Homes will be participating in the construction which includes 25 tiny homes and a shared community space on campus where these young adults can gather together for support as well as recreation and fellowship.
Mark Ivey, owner of Ivey Homes, said of the partnership, "The opportunity to provide housing for those that are in need and partner with another local builder in our community is a testament to what can be achieved when we all work together. We are proud to be a part of this project not only to build homes but help build the futures of all that will live in this community for many years to come."
Dr. Jackson Drumgoole, Founder and Executive Director of Bridge Builder Communities, spoke of the value of the partnership, stating "We are truly honored to have Ivey Homes join us on this journey with Bridge Builder Communities. Their partnership and commitment bring immense value, and together, we look forward to building stronger connections and achieving great milestones."
